Making Memories Home Health is a locally owned home care agency based in Tampa. Many families know us for our skilled home health care services, which Medicare can cover when a doctor orders them. We also offer in-home care and long-term care for people who need a helping hand with daily life at home, sometimes called private duty home care. If your loved one needs nursing or therapy, see Medicare home health.
What our in-home care services include
A trained, supervised caregiver comes to your home on the days and at the times you arrange, scheduled by the hour.
- Personal care. Help with bathing, dressing, using the toilet, grooming and other activities of daily living, done with patience and respect.
- Homemaker services. Preparing meals, light housekeeping and laundry.
- Respite care. A caregiver covers a few hours so the family member who usually provides care can rest.
Home care is non-medical support. When your loved one needs nursing or therapy, our Medicare home health team provides it with a doctor’s order, and the two kinds of help work together.
Ways to pay for in-home care
Medicaid Long-Term Care plans. Families with a Florida Medicaid Long-Term Care (LTC) plan can receive personal care, homemaker services, respite care and help with daily activities at home, based on the services their plan authorizes. Call us and we will check your plan before care starts.
Private pay. Families who prefer to pay directly can arrange personal care, homemaker services and respite care by the hour. Call us and we will go over rates with you.
Long-term care insurance. Many private long-term care policies help pay for care at home. Benefits depend on your policy, so check it or ask your insurer about waiting periods and the paperwork it needs.
You can see all the insurance we accept. Medicare covers our home health services when you qualify, and Medicare Advantage plans are verified one by one.
Home care near me: where we provide in-home care
We serve families in Tampa, Brandon, Lakeland, Bradenton and other communities in Hillsborough, Polk and Manatee counties. You can talk with our office in English or Spanish.
Who can use in-home care?
Anyone in our service area who needs help at home can ask about in-home care. With private pay, you or your family decide that some extra help would make life at home safer and easier. With a Medicaid Long-Term Care plan, your plan sets the services and hours it authorizes, and we help you through the steps.
Families often call us about in-home care when:
- Bathing, dressing or using the bathroom has become hard or unsafe
- Cooking, cleaning or laundry has become too much
- A spouse or adult child is the main caregiver and needs time to rest
- Someone is back home after a hospital stay and needs help with daily tasks while they recover
If you are not sure whether in-home care, home health care or both would help most, call us. We will talk it through with you.
In-home care and Medicare home health work together
Both may help with bathing and dressing, so families often ask how they are different.
A home health aide is part of a Medicare home health plan of care. Aide visits come along with skilled nursing or therapy that a doctor orders, for as long as that skilled care continues.
In-home care is help by the hour that your family arranges through a Medicaid Long-Term Care plan or private pay, and it can continue for as long as your family needs it.
Many families use both. During a recovery, a nurse and therapist visit for the skilled care the doctor ordered, and home care hours cover daily help such as meals and laundry. Our guide to private duty home care and aging in place explains more.
